For Galerie Monica Ruppert, Milica Giacomelli has conceived a site-specific video installation: a projection running across three walls that exposes the viewer to an immersive exhibition space. In "In Between II", analogue slide photographs, their innermost layers dissected, meet digital 3D sculptures that spread dynamically like undefined matter. The installation opens up an in-between space, situated between sculptural presence and wholly purposeless beauty on the one hand, and a reckoning with the vulgar side of consumer capitalism on the other.
Milica Giacomelli (*1977) is a video artist and stage designer. After studying at the HfG Offenbach and the Berlin University of the Arts, she worked internationally in Cape Town and Athens, where she ran a studio. In 2008 she realised the architectural mapping for the Frankfurt Opera Ball, the first large-scale projection of its kind in Germany. She went on to shape the opening ceremony of the Frankfurt Book Fair as artistic director for fifteen years. Milica Giacomelli lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.
